Thought for the day

Life is so ironic, it takes sadness to know happiness, noise to appreciate silence and absence to value presence. Everything has a lesson for us to learn. So stay open and say #yes to it all and then let go!

-Make your mark

Free your mind

There are so many people whose minds do not belong to them. There are so many people whose thoughts have been purchased by people. There are so many people who have made people kings and queens of their thought. There are so many people who cannot sleep because of people. There are so many people whose lives are a small percentage of their own self and a greater percentage of others. When the offenses of people occupy your mind, your mind becomes the offenses of people instead of your own mind. To have your own mind and to be your own self, free your mind!

The formal practice of mindfulness meditation

The theory of mindfulness without the practice is like a lecture on hydration without drinking water. It’s very dry, and it doesn’t really do us much good. So this next section is going to be very much around how to apply mindfulness. The application of mindfulness can be divided into a few different areas. Firstly, there’s the formal practice of mindfulness meditation. It’s like the gym work for attention, if you like. But there’s no point in being mindful for 5, or 10, or 20 minutes practicing meditation, and then being unmindful 23 hours and 40, or 50, or 55 minutes in the day.

So the aim of mindfulness meditation is to have a better opportunity to be mindful when we get out of the chair and re-engage with our day-to-day life. So that’s the informal practice of mindfulness. Now, implicit it in both the formal and the informal practice of mindfulness are also a range of cognitive practices. And the big four, as far as I’m concerned, in mindfulness, have to do with the relationship between perception and stress, letting go, acceptance, and presence of mind.

Change your thinking, change your world

Here is a few pieces of great advice, let me know what your thoughts are

If you want to get somewhere, you have to know where you want to go and how to get there. Then never, never, never give up.

The secret of life isn’t what happens to you, but what you do with what happens to you.

Help other people to cope with their problems and your own will be easier to cope with.

Never use the word impossible seriously again. Toss it into the verbal wastebasket.

Self-trust is the first secret of success. So believe in and trust yourself.

Stand up to your obstacles and do something about them. You will find that they haven’t half the strength you think they have.

Joy increases as you give it, and diminishes as you try to keep it for yourself. In giving it, you will accumulate a deposit of joy greater than you ever believed possible.

How you think about a problem is more important than the problem itself – so always think positively.

Go at life with abandon; give it all you’ve got. And life will give all it has to you.

Make this week YOUR week

Thinking clearer

So my working week is over, it hasn’t been a bad week. Testing? Yes, but nobody said it was going to be easy.
Well if it was it would soon lose its appeal and become another chore.

I started this thing recently where at the end of each day I like to write down what went well and what not so well. How I handled certain situations and what could have been done differently. Kind of like a stop, start, continue exercise.

I have been doing this for a few weeks now and have found that it’s making my thinking clearer. Sounds silly but I think it has.

This was all part of my new years resolution to myself. Get physically fitter, get mentally fitter and become more in tune with myself. Looking at myself from the outside, see what I can improve.

For the rest of today and tomorrow though I’m going to enjoy the copa mundial, the weather and recharge my batteries.

Have a great weekend and let me know your thoughts on my exercise or anything else.

Stay hungry
